Are You Extracting a Tooth? Here’s How to Eliminate Dental Anxiety

Posted .

Tooth extraction can be a nerve-wracking treatment. Unfortunately, it’s oftentimes necessary if you suffer extreme decay or severe dental injury. The good news is: There are things you can do to feel more comfortable, confident, and relaxed in the dental chair.

The first thing you should do is tell our dental team that you are anxious. This will help us be on the same page. When you tell our dental team about your nerves, we can do everything we can to make you as stress-free as possible. We can also perform treatment in the meekest and most relaxed manner possible so you don’t feel afraid or troubled.

The second thing you should do is to consider using dental sedation. Dental sedation is a convenient tool that can help when you’re nervous or scared during your appointment. It can enter your system and make you feel sleepy and relaxed. Who knows, you might not even remember the particulars about your treatment! The most common form of sedation is nitrous oxide, which is also known as laughing gas.

The third thing you should do is establish a stop signal with your dentist. This stop signal could be anything like raising your hand, tapping your armrest, or making a certain sound. Doing these things can inform your dentist you need a little break.
