At Lake Highlands Dental, our primary concern is the health of your smile, but we also know how closely your oral health and general health are tied together, and we want all of our patients to have healthy lives. One way we do that is by offering blood pressure screening in Dallas, Texas.
Around 45% of adults in the U.S. have some form of high blood pressure, or hypertension. Only about one out of every four of those adults are controlling it. Left unchecked, high blood pressure can increase the risk of a stroke, heart attack, cardiovascular disease and even kidney disease.
Following the recommendation of the American Dental Association®, our dentists and team perform a blood pressure screening during each visit, especially before administering certain types of sedation or medication. Hypertension may also play a factor in the treatments that we suggest. The process is quick and easy, and if we notice a problem, we will recommend that you follow up with a visit to your primary care provider.
If you have questions about the screening process or the relationship between your oral and heart health, or if you would like to schedule a visit with Dr. Lyndel Stripling, Dr. Sajjad Ashnagar, Dr. Rachael O'Brien or Dr. Dan Stipe, call our office at 214-613-1279.
