What is periodontal disease?

Posted .

Periodontal disease is a more advanced form of gum disease that affects not only the gums but also the bone supporting the teeth. It develops when gingivitis is left untreated. Over time, it can lead to gum recession, bone loss, and eventually tooth loss. While it can’t be fully reversed, it can be controlled with proper dental care and maintenance. One out of three individuals has periodontal disease.
